Our youngsters are by first-prize stallions who were selected as sires for our foals because of their outstanding dispositions and natural tölt. They are handled from birth but not spoiled.

All four colts are natural tölters; they may trot occasionally but tölt seems be their preferred gait. All our horses are registered and up on worming and vaccinations. They are all halter-trained and are amenable to having their hooves worked on. They are friendly and interested in humans and should be easy to train.

Galdur 2012-02 small
Galdur from Unicorn Valley
Born April 5, 2009, Gelding
Sire: First prize stallion Pá fra Laugarvatni
Dam: Gola fra Dyrfinnusstodum
Price: $8,000
Color: chestnut

He is very well started now and is very easy and obedient. He calmly walks with you under an over scary things like shower curtains, a see-saw, etc, stands quietly for the farrier, and loads easily.

He is being started under the saddle right now and surprises me by calmly accepting everything I do with him. Surprising because he was a little skittish as a foal. He has clearly matured. He will make a very reliable and comfortable trail horse. At about 13 1/2 hands he is easy to get on from the ground.

He has a very nice soft walk and offers a beautifully smooth tölt as first speed-up gait. He has not offered trot yet but I am not worried because I have occasionally seen him trot in the pasture.

tindra 1 small
Tindra from Unicorn Valley
Born July 9, 1997, Mare
Sire: First prize stallion Rökkvi fra Alftagerdi
Dam: Eistla from Unicorn Valley
Price: $8,000
Color: red dun

Tindra is a red dun mare about 13 1/2 hands tall. She is a very nicely gaited, reliable trail horse. She is quite laid back and and unafraid. She is obedient and takes care of her rider. She is very good mother and has given us some very high quality foals, Petur and Tobbi among them.
Her price will go up as his training progresses.

The colts listed below are purebred Icelandic but not currently registered as such. I bought their sire, Greipur frá Midsitja, from a boarding stable in California, where his then-owner had abandoned him along with five other horses. She has not responded to my several requests for Greipur’s signed certificate of registration. I am therefore not the owner of record with the United States Icelandic Horse Congress and thus they will not register his offspring.

The prices for Greipur’s offspring reflect the fact that they are not registered.

sindri 1 small
Sindri from Unicorn Valley
Born May 18, 2012, Colt
Sire: Greipur frá Midsitja
Dam: Sogn frá Swignaskardi
Price: $3,000
Color: Red bay with black mane and tail

Sindri is a little more cautious than his brothers but just as curious and with nice conformation. He warms up to a person very quickly. “Scary-training” as a yearling included: tarps, shower curtains, balloons, see-saw, umbrellas, going into the trailer, etc. So he will be easy to start under the saddle. Sindri tölts in the pasture and will thus likely offer tölt naturally as a first speed up gait. He has been bathed and is accustomed to having his feet handled.

The horses below have been sold:

solveig 1 small sold
Solveig from Unicorn Valley
Born April 13, 2002, Mare
Sire: Krummi from Unicorn Valley
Dam: Sogn far Svignaskardi
Price: $5,000
Color: red bay

Solveig is about 14 hands and a red bay with black mane and tail. She has been trained under the saddle but her training is not complete because she has been busy being a mother. She has raised three of her own foals and adopted an orphan. When her half-sister Vinda died from botulism she adopted her 5 weeks+ premature nephew Dyr Undur, who spent the first four weeks of his life in the ICU, on the spot when presented with him at the equine hospital Rood & Riddle in Lexington. People there were very-very surprised that she would do this so immediately.

When ridden she feels free to express her opinions; for example, “I want to go home now”. Needless to say, she needs more training. She is completely fearless and a dedicated mother.

Tindur from Unicorn Valley
Born April 16, 2012, Colt
Sire: Greipur frá Midsitja
Dam: Tindra from Unicorn Valley
Price: $2,500
Color: Dark bay with a small half-moon shape mark on his forehead

Tindur is self-confident and easy-going with nice conformation. During halter-training he was the first of the four colts to lead easily without fighting. He has been bathed and is accustomed to having his feet handled. He was “scary-trained”: tarps, shower curtains, balloons, see-saw, umbrellas, going into the trailer, etc as a yearling. So he will be easy to start under the saddle. Tindur tölts in the pasture and will thus likely offer tölt naturally as a first speed up gait.

salena 1 small sold
Salena from Unicorn Valley
Born April 15, 2009, Mare
Sire: First prize stallion Pa fra Laugarvatni
Dam: Solveig from Unicorn Valley
Price: $8,000 SOLD
Color: red bay with black mane and tail

This lovely young mare has a lot to offer. She has just been started under the saddle. Her attitude is positive; she likes to work. At about 15 hands she is the largest horse on our place and the largest Icelandic I have ever ridden. She would thus be suitable for a larger rider who cannot quite picture him- or herself on a little Icelandic pony.

She is good with all the basics you may expect from a polite young horse: is easy to lead, loads into a trailer, is very cooperative for her hooves to be worked on, and stands quietly for mounting. She is laid back and not afraid of anything.

She has a ground-covering walk, a soft trot that is easy to sit and an unbelievable floating tölt that makes one feel that one is on a boat gliding down a river.

snabbi 1 small sold
Snabbi from Unicorn Valley
Born July 13, 2013, Colt
Sire: Greipur frá Midsitja
Dam: Solveig from Unicorn Valley
Price: $2,000 SOLD
Color: Red bay

Snabbi is as bold, self-confident, easy-going, and curious as his mother with nice conformation. He has been halter trained but not yet “scary trained”. This will be the next step in his education. He has gone into the trailer and has been bathed and is accustomed to having his feet handled. Snabbi tölts in the pasture and will thus offer tölt naturally as a first speed up gait.

Petur small sold
Petur from Unicorn Valley
Born May 2, 2010, Gelding
Sire: First prize stallion Pá fra Laugarvatni
Dam: Katina from Unicorn Valley
Price: $4,900 SOLD
Color: buckskin dun

Petur is only 4 years old and thus has not had any under the saddle training. But he has had a lot of ground work done with him. He will nicely walk with you over and through scary obstacles, load into the trailer, and will stand nicely for the farrier.

He is extremely laid-back and would thus be suitable for an equine therapy program. He is nearly 15 hands tall and would thus also be suitable for a taller rider who would not want to be seen on a little Icelandic pony. He tölts in the pasture and will do so easily under a rider.

He likes people and will be easy to train.

Tobbi 2012-02 b small sold
Tobbi from Unicorn Valley
Born May 18, 2010, Gelding
Sire: First prize stallion Pá fra Laugarvatni
Dam: Tindra from Unicorn Valley
Price: $4,500 SOLD
Color: bay dun

Tobbi is only 4 years old and thus has not had any under the saddle training. But he has had a lot of ground work done with him. He will nicely walk with you over and through scary obstacles, load into the trailer, and will stand nicely for the farrier.

Like Petur, he is very laid-back and would thus be suitable for an equine therapy program. He is nearly 15 hands tall and would thus also be suitable for a taller rider who would not want to be seen on a little Icelandic pony. He tölts in the pasture and will do so easily under a rider.

Like his half-brother Petur, he likes people and will be easy to train.

Glofaxi is courageous, self-confident and easy-going and curious with nice conformation. So he will be easy to start under the saddle. He has been bathed and is accustomed to having his feet handled.
